李素妍

Korean-American pianist 李素妍 (BM ’01, MM ’03, 艺术家文凭 ’05), who joins the Juilliard faculty in July 2022, won first prize in the Naumburg International 钢琴 Competition and the Concert Artist Guild International Competition. Highlights of recent seasons include appearances at the National Gallery, Library of Congress, Gina Bachauer Concerts, Purdue Convocations, San Francisco 表演, and the Cleveland Art Museum. She is a regular participant in numerous music festivals including the Great Lakes, 圣达菲, and 音乐 Mountain chamber music festivals, and has collaborated with conductors Carlos Miguel Prieto, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Jahja凌, and Jorge Mester with the London, 圣地亚哥, 夏威夷, 路易斯安那州, and Naples symphony orchestras, 等. Lee’s discography as a Naxos artist spans the works of Scarlatti, 李斯特, 斯克里亚宾, 和Clementi, and her eco-awareness album Re!nvented, E1标签上的, garnered her the Classical Recording Foundation’s young artist of the year award. She has commissioned works by prominent composers and has given world premieres of works written by Frederic Rzewski, Marc-André Hamelin, 亚历山大Goehr, Gabriela Lena Frank, Texu金, 黄若.

A laureate of the Santander International 钢琴 Competition and the Cleveland International 钢琴 Competition, Lee is a graduate of Juilliard and earned her doctorate at the CUNY Graduate Center. She has worked extensively with Richard Goode, Jerome Lowenthal, Robert McDonald, and Ursula Oppens. Lee is co-founder and artistic director of 音乐 by the Glass, a concert series dedicated to bringing together young professionals in New York City. She is an associate professor of music in piano at the Cincinnati-大学 Conservatory of 音乐, where she received the 2021 University of Cincinnati Mrs. A.B. “Dolly” Cohen Award for excellence in teaching, and serves on the piano faculty of the Bowdoin International 音乐 Festival.
